GLO-30 is a Digital SURFACE Model: heights include forest canopy and building roofs, not bare earth, so wooded and built-up cells read metres to tens of metres above the ground. Vertical datum is the EGM2008 geoid, not the WGS84 ellipsoid. Source acquisition is TanDEM-X radar, 2011-2015. Cells are 4560 m hexagons aggregating ~895 postings; elevation_min_m / elevation_max_m give the relief the mean hides. Hexes on the AOI edge overhang the boundary and carry a low sample_count — read sample_count before trusting an edge cell. Postings are 8x8 decimations produced inside the source COGs, so elevation_min_m / elevation_max_m are the extremes of averaged cells, not of raw 30 m postings: real relief within a cell is wider than these two numbers show. This is an overview layer — use a province layer for analysis.Provenance

Copernicus GLO-30 COG tiles (426 tiles of the 469 touching the AOI bbox (95.011, -11.008, 141.019, 6.077); the rest are open ocean and absent from GLO-30 Public) read from the COGs' own level-8 overviews (8 arc-second postings, ~240 m) rather than whole tiles and clipped to all 522 ADM2 units of Indonesia (COD-AB v01); postings binned into flat-top hexagons of 4560 m edge in +proj=laea +lat_0=-2 +lon_0=118 +x_0=0 +y_0=0 +datum=WGS84 +units=m +no_defs (area = 1.5*sqrt(3)*s^2, the same hexagon ST_HexagonGrid draws for the scoring grid), each cell carrying mean/min/max elevation and its posting count. Coordinates rounded to 1e-5 deg.
