Vertical datum is the EGM2008 geoid, not the WGS84 ellipsoid. Source acquisition is TanDEM-X radar, 2011-2015. Contours therefore follow the canopy and rooftops, not bare earth, and are noticeably crenellated in forest — this is the surface the DEM measured, not a drafting error. A display layer: read elevation from the hex layer, not by interpolating between these lines.
